Dr. Muhammed, Abubakar Bala is practicing Veterinary surgeon with over 26 years of extensive experience in livestock production, Animal Health and management. He is a consultant and a fellow (Professional Post graduate Diploma) in Veterinary Surgery at the College of Veterinary Surgeon, Nigeria.

Dr Bala Muhammed was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari into the Governing Board of Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) in 2018 and, ratified his election as a member and Vice President, Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN).

He was a senior consultant and Project Manager of Food Supply Program in Niger State and FCT, Abuja in the defunct Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund (PTF). He is a party that established the leading Private Veterinary Clinics and Surgery- Vet World Abuja, BlueBlood Vet Ltd, Vet point Ltd and Life Stock Management Services Ltd where he is the current Director and Supervisory Veterinarian.

He has wide experience in animal care and handling including the use of dogs for security purposes. He worked closely with security organizations including Nigerian Police Force Animal Branch, Nigerian Army K9 Units, M & E Global Services, French K9 and American K9 that deals in sniffer and guard dogs. He provides consultancy and capacity building services to various agribusinesses, with deep interest in Poultry Production, Equestrian Polo and Turf activities, as well as Food Safety and Public Health.

He was the National Consultant to Program and Projects at Federal government of Nigeria, Sure-P, YouWin, State governments, USAID, DFID, Grand Cereals Limited/UAC, UNDP and FAO/UN at various times. He is an advocate for good governance, quality Veterinary Service and Animal Welfare/Rights Movement.

He is a consultant to ECHITab STUDY Ltd/Gte working with Liverpool Institute of Tropical Medicine, UK to develop potent indigenous snake anti-venom. He is the Protem Secretary Animal Welfare Initiative, Nigeria. He was the General Secretary, Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) and the Coordinating Secretary, Technical Committee on Bird Flu (Avian Influenza Control).

He was a Panelist at 7th Annual Bankers’ Committee Retreat (creating an enabling environment for SME Growth) and a Facilitator at CBN’s Bankers’ committee on Economic Development & WinBiz Female Entrepreneurs MSME Sensitization Workshop.

Dr. Muhammed Abubakar Bala has undertaken various post graduate hands-on training programs in Nigeria and abroad, in over sixteen (16) countries. He is a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration (FICA); a beneficiary of the United States of America’s International Visitors and Leadership Program (IVLPA) on Infectious Diseases and HIV/AIDS hosted by States Department in the USA in 2007.

He obtained certificate in “participatory rural appraisal” sponsored by United State Agency for International Department (USAID) at IITA/ILRI, Ibadan. He was trained by Empretec Foundation/UNDP/UNOPS, on Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies (PEC) in April 2007; Growing Enterprise Leaders (GEL) IN 2011; Certificate in Enterprise Management from Enterprise Development Centre of Pan Atlantic University in 2011 and a participant at the African Agribusiness Management Program (AgMP), Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University in 2014 and became a Certified Social Entrepreneur at EDC Pan-Atlantic University, Social Sector Management (Animal Welfare Initiative) in 2016.
